Card of the Day – Wednesday – July 10, 2013

Puzzle Fortune Tiwaz2

Quick and late reading today, but didn’t want to let the entire day go without a glimpse at the cards and runes.

I’m glad I did, I go the Puzzle (A Decision which must be made before things can go forward) and Fortune (Fortunes both spiritual and physical) stuck together along with the Tiwaz (Justice/Law/Legal Decisions/Sky Father) rune-stave.

This combination suggests:

A Decision will have to be about Fortunes/Economics/Currencies/banking etc and it will involve laws/courts/legal contracts/passing laws etc.

It can also be about legal (or tribal/national/international) decisions about such matters, such as the Court Ruling earlier today that Apple Inc was guilty of trying to fix the prices of E-books a few years ago (other companies settled out of court I gather).

The energies probably point to a much larger decision than just that one, but that is the basic sort of thing you can expect to see.

I also noted that the main Psy Card Site, which now does its own card of the day over at is The Warrior, exactly the same card that I got here yesterday.  So it is likely that this “battling/warrior/conflict” energy is likely to spill over into this Puzzle/Decision/Fortune/Legal reading.

Remember Tiwaz is TRIBAL justice which doesn’t really care if the issue is solved in a court room, by ritual combat or even all-out war; only that the matters is that the clan/family/national honor is satisfied.

On a personal level, this is a day when decisions people have been putting off about banking/saving/financing/budgeting etc, may have to be sorted before the family can go forward.

It may be a very good day if you work in any sort of legal profession associated job (legal secretary, lawyer, judge, para-legal etc) but it may be a very dicey day if you work in banking related fields or in anything relating to fortunes (including precious metals) and economics.

Hopefully we’ll see more tomorrow when I hope to get a chance for a longer read – but at least this is a mid-week warning that verifies that Fehu rune earlier in the week suggesting that “Fortunes/Money/Gold” etc are at stake here and are a good chunk of this weeks conflicting and probably legal issues coming up in the cards.

Card of the Day – Thursday – May 9th, 2013

Today’s card is The Voyage and the rune is Tiwaz (the same as yesterday).

So while the card energy changes in some ways, the runic energy stays exactly the same and the Voyage Card is a similar energy to the arrow being shot on the Father Card.

I think what we are seeing here is an energy shift into a new pattern, a rather more sudden jerk than we usually get, but it does happen sometimes, especially when a particularly powerful force enters the picture and decides to take over.

Before this we have had a building, new but somewhat hidden energy (also a wild energy) now we are seeing a more narrowed but highly directed one.

The Voyage card on its own indicates a Journey, which can be physical, mental or spiritual depending on the context  of the rest of the reading.  It signifies movement, heading somewhere, travel, no fixed location or even a change of direction; again depending on context.

The Tiwaz rune as we talked about yesterday – is specifically the rune of the God Tyr and is associated with Justice, Courts, Laws, Legal Battles, Tribal Warfare, Duels and even some aspects of the Ancient Sky Father God (including Lighting, sort of like Zeus).

Like yesterday, I’m getting several “word pictures” from this combination and the first is,

“The Voyage of Justice”

In other words Justice/Courts/Law are traveling/journeying/moving today – and that can be seen directly in today’s and yesterday’s headlines.  Lots of stories about court cases, hearings, judgments, charges etc.

The second one is,

“The Voyage of the Spear”

Like yesterday’s Arrow being pointed and directed towards a target, today’s Voyage seems to be directing the Spear of Tiwaz in the direction it is intended to go.

This may be related to “word picture” number 3 and/or related actual cosmic events such as a solar flare or the story that came out yesterday about a possible energy from a Super Nova headed in Earth’s direction sometime during this Summer.

It also echo’s yesterdays “spear going into the heart of the matter” this time already on the journey to do so, having been first directed by yesterday’s “Father” energy.

The Journey/Voyage towards War/Tribal Justice/Law without Mercy

In this part of the reading, I think the energies of the “marching towards war” we’ve been seeing in the cards for at least 1 1/2 years continues on forward.  This time colored by tribal and clan centered views of revenge and blood feud; which actually are dominating things right now (and probably point again to the Middle East, though the energy could manifest in other places, even things like Mafia Gangs or other “Family” enterprises).

For individuals this day could prove to be very focused and continues to be a good time to get things done.

The Voyage card means that travel (especially justified travel aka business or other mandated travel) should go relatively smoothly and it is also a good day for targeted ideas and legal situations to continue to untangle themselves.

Another good day for judges, lawyers, police, government workers, contracts, house closings, etc; but while not as stern as yesterday’s father card, the Voyage and Tiwaz still present a time when you want everything honest and above-board.

Big Daddy may no longer be “watching you” every second, but Tiwaz days have a way of bringing out any falsehood, dishonesty or even slightly twisted meddling with laws or regulations so again not a good day for any activity you wouldn’t want your great-grandmother to observe you doing (or at least one she wouldn’t approve of).

For example, obviously great-granny doesn’t want to watch you shooting your er..a.. spear in hopes of creating the voyage of a new life, but she would probably approve of having a great-great grandchild to hold in her arms afterwards.

On the other hand, going behind a potential partner’s back and doing something you know would be hurtful or against your personal rules; would be a very, very bad move today.  That sort of dishonesty in contracts or relationships is exactly the sort of stuff that Tiwaz energy is likely to bring out into the light of day and “judge” without mercy; so a great day for taking a voyage out with that special person, just be direct and honest about it (i.e. this is not a day for messing around, pretending affection or playing with someone’s heart-strings).

Also a great day for highly focused dream works, meditations and problem solving; especially the sorts of problems where you need a “bolt from the blue” to get that final piece of the answer.

A fine time to study for exams or make forward movement on a project or planned vacation (again just be honest, no cheating in either direction).

It will be very interesting to see if tomorrow’s cards consider this sort of “movement of Justice/Spear/Tiwaz” energy towards something or if the energies will start to settle somewhere.

Meanwhile this is still a very active time period, lots of energy and much of being shot in a bolt over our heads, so be prepared to duck when you need to.  Best not to be the target of the spear when it lands, unless of course it is cupids honest arrow, then enjoy yourself and be open to your partner.

Card of the Day – Thursday – Dec 27, 2012

Well, after taking a Holiday Break, we can see that there has been a shift in the energies from the previous period, which is somewhat refreshing and suggests that things may start moving in a slightly different direction for the start of the New Year.

The Card of the Day is:

The Libido – this card represents sexuality, life force, liveliness, color, male display behavior, warfare and occasionally distraction from evil/bad things/danger (see the snake being ignored as the two peacocks display and consider fighting over a female – aka they are distracted by sexuality to the point of danger).

The Rune of the Day is:

Tiwaz – The God Tyr (Justice/Sky Father) this Rune usually represents justice but is as much justice of the Clan (aka taking personal revenge) as it is about law courts (both are covered).  While this rune is favored by lawyers and police officers who follow a Northern Path, the energy of the rune actually favors personal combat (with weapons) as much as is does that with a pen (lawyers).

Also, the Justice achieved is often tribal and can includes settlements familiar to those in the Middle East, but that modern Westerners might find hard to swallow – for example Murder was perfectly legal in the Viking Age provided the killer announced his crime and offer to pay the person’s “worth.”  If the family accepted the payment that was it, if they didn’t the killer could be exiled (or how Eric the Red found Greenland) or the family of the murdered person was allowed to seek personal revenge by seeking to kill them (sometimes it was a case of take exile or be killed by the family so best to get out-of-town).

Anyway, I bring this up because while in general the prospects of a Libido card are very positive (and great for a hot date) the combat aspects of the card can not be ignored, especially when combined with the rune Tiwaz.

If I were reading for a private client about her marriage, I would have to wonder if a divorce (or other legal battle) was in the offing when getting this combination.  For a Current Events Reading I have to wonder if both “Display” and “Combat” are serving as a distraction from real issues of Justice/War/Right Decision etc.

The Tiwaz Rune is Shaped like a Spear and sometimes seems to drive right to the heart of an issue.  This makes me suspect that while the major energy today is for distraction, pretty shiny things and perhaps even romance; there is an undercurrent of the spear (and the snake) about to strike and surprise everyone.  The snake is the hidden side of this energy (though quite deadly) and the Spear of Tiwaz the more public (and perhaps divine judgement) aspect of it.

Still, for most people today is a good day to celebrate life, create life and enjoy the colors of the Season.  It is a day to be careful of legal issues, especially those involving relationships (including child support) and other things that can “strike suddenly” when we are distracted by other things (including the Holidays).  Especially beware of “male display behavior” (aka personal conflicts) for the next couple of days; try to be a calming influence when it comes about; use the Libido energy to distract in a useful fashion and remember the heart of a savage beast can often be swayed with a good meal and other activities (especially if the beast is your husband/partner).

This is NOT a good day for court cases and police/law enforcement people should be on guard for an uptake in family quarrels and other similar issues.  They do have “justice” on their side at the moment, but as with all Tyr/Justice combinations they need to be very careful to stay on the “right” side of things as Tyr can be justice without mercy (aka the letter of the law).

So a good day for everyone to observe speed limits, but also to enjoy the color and mysteries of your location once you get there.

We shall see how this energy develops over the next few days.  I hope to be reading through New Years and I will doing a 2013 projected cards for the year before I am away to London for a week (for a Northern  Mysteries conference) where I will be mostly off-line, but back again after the 9th of January.

Card of the Day – Monday – Sept 17, 2012

Today’s card is The Fool (starting over, innocence, A foolish action) and the rune of the day is Tiwaz (Justice/Tribal law).

This is a very interesting combination for a current events reading, especially right now – because it suggests that something new may be starting to take place  and/or some parties in a situation are so busy making their own “music” that they can’t see they may be about to walk over a cliff.  While this card does not always represented a “foolish action” sometimes it does mean that someone(s) is either “played the fool” and/or is simply too innocent or unaware to realize that a particular path is a bad idea.

The Fool in and of itself, it not a bad card, representing as it does the start of one personal (or collective) spiritual journey and everyone starts out with hearts full of hope, great ideas and total ignorance of what may be about to take place.  That’s natural, that’s why the Fool is usually shown as a young man, going on his first journey, playing a pipe and simply not paying attention.  He isn’t bad, he is not evil, he isn’t even unintelligent but what he is, is naive about what is going on around him or ahead of him on the path.  He may march forward with the luck of the innocent and do just fine, or he may walk directly into the nearest tree and never see it coming.

I believe this card is telling us that all signs point to something new and unexpected coming up on the current events seen and it may have to do with either law or tribal justice.

That’s because the Tyr rune (which is shaped like a spear with obvious war-like associations) represents the God Tyr who main aspects is law, but it is more law without the tempering of mercy (aka judgment).  It is also TRIBAL law, rather than bookish law; the goal being to “make things right” rather than just punishing evil deeds.  For example, in the Viking Age, killing someone was perfectly legal provided you announced to everyone that you had done so and offered to pay the appropriate “worth” of the person to their family.  If the family accepted this “buy out” then everything was fine, if not they might declare war on your family and kin; either outcome might be considered an aspect of “Tyr” type of justice.

For the Middle East, Tyr also has an interesting older aspect as being associated with the ancient “Sky Father” God whose name has been lost in the midst of time but is found all over Western-Asia and parts of Europe (and the Middle East).  I am in no way suggesting that he is the same being as either version of the Creator claimed by the main actors in the Middle Eastern part of the world, but Try is about the closest you can get in a Norse/Germanic Pantheon if that is what the runes want to talk about it.

In that context you almost get a reading of “Fools ‘for’ God/God’s Laws/God’s Justice” however one defines the idea of God/Gods Creator.

Some might suggest that “Holy Wars” are almost always “Foolish” in nature and I think there are hints of that here in this reading.

Still the Fool Card suggests some new aspect or angle on this topic, rather than simply a rehash of what has gone on for at least a thousand years.  Either that or someone is being played The Fool and will be caught up in a situation of Tyr style “justice” no matter how innocent they may have been about the facts on the ground.

So look for new developments (including things happening in other parts of the world than where the major focus is), stories about people being duped, stories about new projects, stories about the law and lawyers, stories about justice (or lack of it) and stories about new directions and even scientific breakthroughs.

Change from the previous pattern or a “new twist” on an old one is the main energy of the day.  That goes for individuals too – a great day to start new projects, but also a good day to pay attention to the accepted rules of social behavior.  This is NOT a good day for taking risks, especially with anything legal like breaking the speed limit; the long spear of Tyr is likely to show up in his modern avatar in a car topped by flashing lights and a blaring siren.

But over-all a good day for the average person, provided your careful and watch where  you step.
