Card of the Day – Thursday – March 8, 2012

Well, after the last several rather grim readings, I am delighted that for International Women’s Day, both card and rune stave seem to be giving us a largely positive message for a change!

The card Mother, of course represents Mother(s), but also nurturing energies, female protectiveness, and female energies.

The rune stave Wunjo, is usually translated as Joy and is believed to depict a flag or the Clan/Tribal Banner.  Very much the idea of joyousness and happiness being found within the extended family or tribe; a very Viking idea from a time when most people lived in extended households or farmsteads, depending on each other for support, friendship, protection, defense and even entertainment.

Mother in this context, seems to refer to the idea of the Mother energies within the clan/family structure and their importance in maintaining the “joy” and happiness of the clan/tribe or even nation.

When Momma is happy, it is easier for other family members to be happy but when Momma is angry almost no one is happy; if they are not unhappy to start out with, they probably will be very soon.

I’m pretty much getting an image of “Keeping Momma Happy” as being very important in some way, with Mother perhaps being “Mother Earth” as well as general, maternal energies.

The Earth (and the Tribes) may also experience “joy” today because the threat from her Mother Sunna (the Sun in Northern cosmology) has passed with little damage, a warning perhaps of things to come, but for now, all is well.

This card could also suggests new and exciting discoveries about Mothers and children in the next few days (in science or in medicine) or even main stream media coverage of happy Mothers in the news.

They only gentle concern with this reading is that sometimes this rune stave can express itself in reverse and display itself as depression or unhappiness (especially when there is a sadness or problem in the tribe).

Nations that are traditionally seen as Mothers (Mother Russia) or females (Britannia) will want to pay close attention to these matters.

It would not surprise me if one of the “Mother” nations or “Mothers of Nations” (important female Leaders/Queens/Presidents/Founders) etc also makes news in the next 24 to 48 hours.

But over all, this is a very positive energy reading and individuals should find it warm, loving and joyful; provided they are nice to “Momma” both in a literal and figurative sense.

A good day for spending time with female relatives;  planting a tree; working with children; working with the disabled, ill or elderly; conception of children; having a baby; over-seeing an ongoing project or meditating on the full moon.

That’s your card and rune for today, remember you can get your cards or runes today or any day by getting a reading.
