Card of the Day – Weekend Edition-Oct 21-24

Well today’s card’s certainly indicate an energy shift coming for the weekend!  Although we have had a couple of these cards before; taken together I think they show at least a change of what will be emphasized in the Main Stream Media during this time period.  That does not mean the ongoing situations of the past week will go away, just that there will be another new issue coming into the picture.

The First Card – Never and/or The Raven, is both a blocking card (in that something either will never happen or seem like it will never happen) and a Messenger card – as in “Quoth the Raven” or “Odin’s Ravens” who go about the earth and bring back messages to Valhalla.

I’m sensing that in this case, the card is both; that there may be an unexpected blockage somewhere and that there is a message that goes along with it.  What it is, I’m not exactly sure but it feels rather dark; that’s because there is a much brighter “message” card in this deck and it didn’t show up.  Instead we get the more cryptic version with its usually negative connections..hmmmm..

Being right next door to the Mother card, this could signal two rather obvious directions to look for the Raven’s message.  The first one would be mothers and children directly, something happening that impacts directly on the maternal bond or the smallest family unit, which in nature is a mother and her off-spring (yes Dad’s are important, but the young can’t survive without nursing at the youngest ages, so if there is only one parent in the natural world, Mom has to be it or the babies perish).

The other obvious reading (and they are not mutually exclusive) is the continuation of The Mother as a symbol for Mother Earth.  This card has shown up as that place-marker before, perhaps because unlike a standard tarot deck, this deck simply does not have a “World” card and The Mother would be a very close match, especially in her material and life-giving aspects.

Before going further, lets examine that final card which came up about a week ago in a more combative reading.  This card, The Libido; is the card for sexuality, life force and the general vigor of life.  When it is right next to the Mother Card, the think that strikes me most is a possible threat to fertility either of actual human women (and perhaps animals) and/or The Earth herself.

The last time this card came up, it seemed to deal with the affairs of men (the two peacocks fighting and missing the snake that threatens them and possibly the pea-hen).  There was still the mating aspect, but the female is outside the picture while the men-folks display for her amusement.  This time, while the picture on the card hasn’t changed, it is right next to the female in all her joy of fertility as a women who has already borne children and may or may not be in the process of actively creating another.  The child on her lap, and the arm of her brother; both hold the secret of her womb from us.

I believe the artist did this on purpose as it is not for us to know what potentials hide within the womb, until they are exposed to the light.  In Spanish a women giving birth is said to “dar la luz” or to “give light,” and I’m getting this image here.  The light stays hidden until the time is right, meanwhile the concentration is upon the children already born.

To sum up, I think these cards show both a weekend energy shift away from both the active/male/destruction energies, and the inward depressive (cave) energies of the last week.

Instead the focus is on the issues of Earth Our Mother and her children; there is some threat there that the Raven Card is carrying and it is likely to have a direct impact on both fertility and the joy of life.  I’m feeling a possible connection to some information that may come out of Japan’s nuclear accident, but that isn’t the whole picture (though it will be part of it).

Something may be happening to human fertility would be one way to read these cards, although the fertility of the earth (crops, fresh water, clean air or the reverse of famine, sewage, pollution) could also be the issue.  Since both are often connected, this may be one reason I am having a hard time sorting these issues out.

While this may be a distraction from the past week’s news, it will be different from the previous, human attempts by the main stream media to divert attention away from the obvious real issues.  This is, in a sense, a new distraction with a REAL ISSUE, one that may seem to jump out of nowhere and catch the powers-that-be by surprise.  Pay attention when the news is fresh, because after a short while there may be some strong attempts to downplay or cover-up/obscure the issue.

Again, I’m not exactly sure what it is, but it connects women-children-the Earth-fertility in some way…watch for stories on things like GMO seeds and their effects on gestation or reports of birth rate declines, that sort of thing.

Meanwhile, on a personal level; for once these cards are harder to read and I really feel this was more of a macro-energy reading, some of which will affect people.

However, it may be a good weekend to spend time with your children, but perhaps not the best time to create them (though if you do manage such an awesome task, meditate on the life-giving aspects of both The Mother and The Libido and leave the Raven to take his negative message elsewhere in your own lives as a couple).

A good weekend to celebrate that which is colorful in life (the peacocks) with visits to art galleries, doing your own creative work or “mothering” along projects already started and left lying about the family workshop.  Both women and men may feel an urge to become re-attached to The Mother by simple acts such as cooking, gardening or walking in the mountains or by the sea-shore.

Take care and have a peaceful, restful time this weekend; enjoy the break in the nearly constant stream of negative energy from the past week by grabbing on to the positive energies of the last two cards.  Even our Raven can be positive for individuals, Odin is a God of wonder, magic and communications as well as war and death.  So take those aspects and blend them with the other two cards and you can have a really great time with those you love and care for.

That is your cards for the weekend!
